Four people have been arrested and charged after Barrie police seized firearms and ammunition on Jan. 17, 2024.

Four Barrie residents have been charged after city police conducted a "high-risk vehicle stop" in a plaza parking lot on Wednesday.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, police say the street crime unit, assisted by tactical officers, safely stopped the vehicle in northeast Barrie on Jan. 17. A Criminal Code search warrant was also executed at a north-end Barrie home.

Barrie police say investigators located and seized three firearms, along with the ammunition for each of these guns.

Further investigation has also revealed that two of these firearms were allegedly stolen during a "violent residential robbery" that occurred Jan. 2.

Three men and one woman, all of no fixed address, have been arrested and are facing firearms, property and other Criminal Code charges, which include failing to comply with probation, undertakings and other court-related matters, according to police.

Two of the male suspects were held for a bail hearing yesterday, by video, at the Barrie courthouse and have been remanded in custody.

The other suspects are scheduled to appear in Barrie court on Feb. 21.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and no further details are being released.
