Hello Midland, we’re Village Media.
Nice to meet you.

If you don’t know us, we’re the company responsible for connecting communities to local news across Ontario – including your nearby neighbours in Orillia, Barrie, Collingwood and Bradford.

We believe local news reflects a community’s identity and its stories should be free and accessible to everyone; including the people of Midland.

That’s why in February 2020 Village Media is opening MidlandToday.ca, a community-focused digital news site and local information hub. We’re excited to be part of your community.

What you can expect from us?

We are all about local. Every day, MidlandToday will publish local stories that matter to you written by local journalists.

We’re FREE. Village Media believes local journalism helps to bring people together, and that everyone deserves to be informed about what is going on in their community. For those of you that value what we do, we may ask you to help support local news in time. That will be purely optional. We’ll never ask you to pay to access local news.

We are relevant. Our coverage will focus on Midland and nearby area. Stories that are relevant – that’s what you can expect when you visit MidlandToday.ca, subscribe to our daily newsletter or visit us on social media.

From time to time, we’ll share regional reporting from our other Simcoe sites like OrilliaMatters, CollingwoodTodayBarrieToday or BradfordToday, but only when we think it will be important to you and your life in Midland

We are a local hub. MidlandToday is more than news. It will connect you with events, weather forecasts, contests, obituaries, free classifieds (no need for Kijiji) and a wide range of community information.

If you’re a local organization that wants to get the word out, send us a release at news@midlandtoday.ca. While we can’t publish everything we receive, we will do our best to keep the community informed with worthwhile information.

We love local business. We have a range of programs that are designed to help your local business grow. From our Community Hub program which includes a premium business listing, lead generation tools and a number of solutions to market your business to our Community Leaders Program which allows you to play an essential role in bringing valuable local journalism to the community, all of our programs are designed for organizations in communities like Midland. Feel free to contact us at business@villagemedia.ca to learn more.
