UPDATE: 16-year-old on ATV seriously injured in crash

Baseline Road between Concession Road 4 and Downers Side Road was closed for investigation, police say

Police say a teenager who was on an ATV was taken to hospital by air ambulance earlier today after a collision on Baseline Road in Tiny Township.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP say the crash took place at around 1 p.m.

Simcoe County Paramedics and Tiny Township Fire Services triaged a 16-year-old male ATV operator of Tiny Township at the scene, police said.

The teen was transported to an area hospital, then by ORNGE air ambulance to a GTA trauma hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

"Investigators are of the belief the ATV was crossing Baseline Road when the ATV was struck by a northbound vehicle,' the OPP said in a news release.

Police added that they are investigating whether or not the ATV operator was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The roadway was closed for investigative purposes until 3:40 p.m.
