Orillia OPP are investigating a shooting that took place on Fish Sideroad in Ramara early Monday morning.

Orillia OPP is investigating a shooting that sent one person to hospital early this morning in Ramara.

Police received a call about the shooting in the Fish Sideroad area, near Airport Road, at 4:45 a.m. on April 15 and have since dispatched tactical and canine units.

One person has been transported to hospital with “serious but non-life threatening injuries” in the wake of the incident, according to OPP officials.

Early this morning, OPP cautioned the public to avoid the Fish Sideroad area and shelter in place on its social media channels, though police have since stated they have cleared the area.

This morning's shooting was an isolated incident, police say.

“We’ve been able to determine at this point that there is no threat to public safety,” said Orillia OPP Const. Brett Boniface. “Detectives from the crime unit are engaged and conducting their investigation.”

As of 8:15 a.m., a section of Fish Sideroad was taped off, blocking vehicle access, as OPP carried out their investigation.

Boniface said the OPP had no further details to release at this time.
