Man apprehended in Midland after disturbance in Penetanguishene

Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a residence on Church Street in Penetanguishene for a report of a physical disturbance in a driveway, at approximately 10:18 a.m. on Dec. 31.

Information was received that the involved parties had just left the scene in a pickup truck and there were safety concerns for a woman in the vehicle, police began a search of the area.

At 11 a.m. OPP officers located the vehicle on King Street in Midland and several police cruisers were used to briefly block the road while peacefully taking a male into custody.

The male was in crisis and was transported to hospital for treatment. The safety of the female was confirmed. This investigation is continuing and no charges have been laid at this time.
