Midge was born in Hillsdale and weighed 7 pounds, they said she was as long as she was wide. Being the youngest of 10 children each of her brothers and sisters chose a name, then they picked one out of a hat. She lived in Hillsdale for few years, then they moved to Midland 157 Bay St. Midge went to Central public school, which was located where the Town Office and Police station are now. Midge was tiny, so She was always the smallest in her classes. After high school Midge’s first job was at Bell Canada and She loved being an operator. When She wasn’t at work you could find her at the Midland public arena She loved to skate or at Little Lake swimming and having picnics in the summer.
In June 1952 her brother Thomas (Bud) Howe, married Marion Bumstead, and that is where she met the love of her life Morris H. G. Wooldridge (Bud). They were married Feb 16 1957. They moved to Toronto, and lived with Grant and Lorna Wooldridge. Soon after they had their first child Cheryl and a second Darryl and third Glenn.

They moved from Toronto to Richmond Hill this is where they raised the children.
Midge worked for the children’s aid society and I believe over the years helped a total of 14 children. Some for a short period of time and one for three years Robert such sadness when he was adopted away from our family. Mom did everything for the kids even in the neighborhood when it was hot outside it was time for ice cream she made sure nobody was left out, that is what she was like. Always doing those little things for others. Like sewing a new pair of pants for a little girl down the road, just to see the smile on her face. Or learning to knit left handed to help Cindy pass her home economics class. Or making sure the kettle was hot for tea in between high school classes, for the parade of students coming over. Oh we use to have some parties and everyone was welcome. Cub Scouts, car pools, and the annual CNE excursion, so much fun.

Our parents loved to camp, and that is where we met so many life long friends, ones we still treasure today. Oh the stories we could tell.
I will be the first to admit that as children we had the most wonderful life. Did we have everything… no…. But it sure felt like we did. We had loving caring parents, food on the table, clean clothes (hand made) and lots of laughs. Being from a large family was the best, Cousins, Aunts and Uncles galore and always there for each other, family picnics and visits, the best times.
They did move a few more times then Mom and Dad ended up back in midland on September 23, 1988. To quote Mom “ I just know we are going to be so happy there”. and they were.

When Mom took ill with pneumonia in 2017 she developed dementia, things became more difficult and memories faded, but she still was always happy, had a wonderful smile, was kind and soft spoken.
We all Loved you Mom and you loved us back. You will always be in our hearts. Now You and Dad can dance, and you can hold your Parents again. Rest In Peace.
Till we meet again. 💕
