Peacefully passed away at the age of 89, retired Glazier & Metal Mechanic, on Wednesday July 21, 2021 at home in Victoria Harbour, with his loving wife Pauline by his side and his daughters Petra & Kareen.
He will be dearly missed. Loving father of Petra Newbold and Kareen Butler (Paul). He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Michael (Jen), Jason, Mark, Ashley (Kyle) and his stepson Ed and his son Ashton Hansen and his great grandchildren Bryden, Aiden & Benjamin. Gert is survived by his sister Marlena Hilderbrandt and his brother Heinz (Hilda) Wendeler. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. To all extended family and friends Gert will always be in our hearts. Gert will be sadly missed by his best friend Tony Kacan (Caro) of 54yrs. A special thank-you from Gertie to all his neighbour friends. Thank you to the Doctor’s and nurse for their great compassion and care.
We greatly appreciate the PSW caregivers. Gert enjoyed the great outdoors, riding his Harley with his wife and friends. Touring Canada and the States. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, drinks and a good laugh with friends. There will be a small Celebration of Life at a later date.
