February 7, 1940 ~ May 1, 2021 (age 81)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon James McKay, in his 82nd year. Gordon was the son of Bob and Millie McKay. He will be deeply missed by his wife, the love of his life, Grace Hill-McKay and Brian Rigo (always loved as their adopted son). Loving brother to Bob McKay and the late Betty McConnachie. Missed by Auntie Jean Roi. Brother in-law to Harvey Hill, Ruth Gregory, John Hill and predeceased by Harold Hill, Mary Huthinson, Joan Hill and David Hill. He was a cherished Uncle to Jeff (Karen) McConnachie, Glen McConnachie, Lynda and Vicky McKay, George Hill, Kim (Dennis) Dusome, Jennifer (Rob) Cober, Richard (Syliva) Hutchinson, Jason (Tracy) Hill, Sheila Johnson, Michael (Shana) Hill, Robbie Hill, great-niece Emily Grenier and great-nephew Mitchell Hutchinon and all those whom Gordon considered his nieces and nephews, Tracy Neller, Darrell Grenier, Alexandra, Alicia and Bram Grigatis, Shelley Smith, Meaghan Whiteside and all those who called him Uncle Gordy. Sadly missed by his best friends Sheryn (the late Dr. Peter Schoppel) Graham “Tuck” Whiteside, Anne Marie and Armand Grigatis, Joyce Smith (the late Russell), Debbie James, Laura Richens, the late Larry Grenier, and all those who had the privilege of calling him friend. For those whom we have missed mentioning by name, and for fear of running out of print, please know that Gordon thought the world of you all.
Gordon was born and raised in Toronto, moving to the area of Hillsdale in 1964, where he worked as foreman at TRW (formerly Nameplate) and then moved on to work full time at his life’s passion of training horses professionally, for many years, predominantly Arabians, where he achieved the title of World Champion for many Horses that he showed. Then together with his wife, they built Sanderson’s / Dreamers trailer park, Candlelight Village community and Candlelight on the Bay, The Strand and Hair Metrix Design Team.
Grace would like to thank her family and friends for the overwhelming love and support that has been showed to her during the difficult times. As special thank you to, Jennifer Snedden with the LHIN, Debbie, Lyn, with Paramend, Elise with the nurses at Bay Shore Home, Barbara with Home Instead, Dr. Stanley Karson all of them the help was always amazing outstanding service and care that made it possible for Gordon to remain at home until the end.
There will be a celebration of Gordon’s life at a future date to be determined, when covid allows us too.
Memorial donations in Gordon’s name, to Hospice Huronia-Tomkins House would be greatly appreciated.
