It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Mary Elaine MacLeod (nee Forget) at age 83 on September 23, 2023 at Scarborough Health Network Birchmount Hospital after a brief illness. Predeceased by her loving husband Malcolm. Beloved and proud mother of Donald (Shelley), Sheila and Heather (Roger). Proud Grandmother to Megan (Adam), Makayla, Calym, Lauren and Great Granddaughter Peyton, all of whom she proudly displayed in photos throughout her home. She is lovingly remembered by her brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews in both Canada and Scotland. Mary will be sadly missed by all extended family and her many friends whom she shared many happy times. Mary was an enthusiastic teacher beginning her career at the tender age of 17, teaching for many different schools and finishing her career with the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB). During her teaching career she was honoured by the TCDSB with an award of teaching excellence. After many enjoyable years of teaching, the last 25 of those years at St. Alberts Catholic School in Scarborough, Mary retired. A proud graduate of York University obtaining her degree while teaching full time. Mary loved gardening, bowling, travel and spent many hours reading. She was an avid armchair athlete, partaking in many sporting events from the comfort of her family room chair. Family and friends may call at the Carson Funeral Homes – JH Lynn Chapel, 290 First St., Midland Ontario, visitation is on Monday October 2, 2023 from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm. There will be a mass of Christian burial at St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church, 589 Hugel Ave. Midland Ontario at 10:30 am on Tuesday October 3. Beverages and a light lunch will follow the service. A memorial service and celebration of life event is also planned for Sunday October 15 from 1-3pm at Momiji Health Care Society, 3555 Kingston Rd. Scarborough Ontario. If desired, donations in memory of Mary can be made at the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
