August 17, 1935 ~ March 4, 2021 (age 85)
With great sadness, we announce that Bill (William) Logan passed away peacefully on March 04, 2021 at the Midland GBGH.
Bill lived his 85 years with great humour and respect. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Marie (nee Ladouceur), children Tina (Glen), Kevin (Karen) and Laurie (Scott). Grandpa will be sadly missed by his 7 grandchildren (Kyle; Lindsey, Kelly, Lauren, Robyn; Logan and Ethan), leaving them with cherished memories and countless examples of living a life with kindness and fun. Bill is further survived by his brother Bob (Linda) and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends – all who have the joy of sharing wonderful moments, jokes and examples of a ‘good’ man.
Hard-working and proud, Bill enjoyed his life in Midland – sailing on the Great Lakes, a successful 33-year career with the Midland PUC, a dedicated Midland Minor Hockey coach in the 1970s, raising and racing pigeons throughout Ontario, and enjoying the win of many bowling trophies.
Bill and Marie shared everything life can offer together, including over 27 years retired and taking countless road trips throughout Canada and the United States to take in the scenery, culture, and of course, the casinos.
Bill loved the water – from packing up the trailer bound for a new campsite every weekend to finally enjoying a more cottage life experience in Parry Sound. Swimming in the lake (right up until last year), watching the loons, canoeing, teaching the kids to fish and playing games with family and friends, the trailer was where he loved to be.
Bill enjoyed hockey but was passionate about baseball – he never missed watching a Blue Jays season opener. As an early gamer of over 45 years, Bill competed in the online Strat-o-Matic baseball league, making good friends from around the world – friends who describe him as a “gentlemen of gentlemen.”
Bill will be fondly remembered with humour on his side, a positive outlook on life and his unique fashion sense (with the take it or leave it attitude). To say he was loved is an understatement, but to say he will be missed would be an even greater understatement – a huge hole is left, but his love, memories, teachings and humour will never be forgotten. Bill had a good life.
Family and friends are invited to share their memories in the spring at a graveside memorial service, followed by a celebration of life; details will be provided based on pandemic restrictions.
