With great sadness, we announce that Marie Logan (nee Marjorie Ladouceur) passed away peacefully on April 08, 2024, surrounded by her family at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie.

Marie, Marjorie, Maggie, Frenchie, Gran, Mom. It did not matter the name; it all meant love. Marie lived her 86 years with kindness, affection and strength. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Tina (Glen), Kevin (Karen) and Laurie (Scott). Gran will be sadly missed by her seven grandchildren (Kyle; Lindsey, Kelly, Lauren, Robyn; Logan and Ethan), leaving them with cherished memories and never-ending feelings of her warm hugs and deep unconditional love. Marie is further survived by six brothers and sisters and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Her true love – Bill (William Gary) Logan, filled her heart. They shared their life as inseparable, undeniable soul mates. Sixty-four years married, including 27 years retired, experiencing countless road trips throughout Canada and the United States, taking in the scenery, culture, and the thrill of the casinos. But the destination did not matter as long as they were together on the journey.

Marie grew up in Penetanguishene, hard-working and proud. She spent many years working at TRW, but her greatest accomplishment and source of pride was raising her family and focusing on time with them. She and Bill shared many interests, including supporting the Midland Minor Hockey League as Bill coached, and Marie ensured everyone had a snack. Racing pigeons, bowling, creating beautiful gardens or playing endless card games were all about being together and making memories.

Marie ensured family came first – it was just second nature that everyone was always to be together. Family meals, special holidays, birthdays and achievements were all celebrated surrounded by family. One of her favourite family outings was packing the trailer bound for a campsite every summer weekend. Eventually trading in the pull trailer for a more cottage life experience in Parry Sound, she embraced what a life well-led looked like surrounded by the ones you love.

Marie was mother to all, the unofficial matriarch. She understood the foundation of family, taught us all something and took care of all of us.

With strong catholic beliefs, Marie believed in the power of prayer and reuniting with the ones who ascended before. She passed away on the day of the solar eclipse, slipping from light to dark to light again. While our hearts are broken, we know she is safe, with no pain, no regrets and a tremendous sense of peace and calm.

To say she was loved is an understatement, but to say she will be missed, there are no words to express. There is now an undeniable hole, but her love, memories, teachings, and caring will never be forgotten. She continues her journey with the loves she has desperately missed and watches over the ones she left.

Family and friends are invited to share their memories at a Catholic Mass service and graveside memorial in the spring, with a date to be announced. Please consider donating to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in place of flowers.
