Norma Florence Lalonde (nee) Lawson passed away on June 21,2021 at Royal Victoria Hospital Barrie. Norma was born on June 25th, 1931, in Midland, Ontario to parents Myrtle and Alexander Lawson. She was the second youngest of eight children, all but one of whom predeceased her. She is survived by her sister Ruth (the late Bill) Cowie and predeceased by brother Roy (Jean) Lawson, sisters Grace (Alec) Stewart, Margaret (Burt) Rutherford, Rita (Pal) Souliere as well as her 11-year-old brother Sammy Lawson and baby Blance who died before Norma was born.
She is also survived by her son Richard (Cathie) Lalonde, their daughters Clara and Rea and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She grew up in Midland then spent 30+ years of her life working for the Shoppers Drug Mart on Cassells Street in North Bay. Norma was predeceased by her husband, Roland (Rolly), who died in 2000. The pair were married in 1952, and welcomed their son, Richard, while living in North Bay. Norma lived in British Columbia for many years, then several years in Midland and spent the last two years of her life in Barrie, where she was able to see her son, daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters often. She loved her family and friends dearly and was often calling or writing letters to those who she could not visit. Norma loved reading, doing puzzles, learning about, and commenting on the news, and she always had an opinion on everything. She was loving, kind, stubborn, caring, and was constantly looking out for those she loved. Norma died 4 days before her 90th Birthday.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mossman and her staff for the kind and compassionate care they gave her over the last few years and all the friends she made in Midland and Barrie.
