Passed away after a brief illness at Georgian Bay General Hospital on Tuesday May 2, 2023 at the age of 93. Mel was born on April 11, 1930 in Truro, Nova Scotia, only child of Vernon & Louise Hughes. Loving husband of Ruby. Dear father of Shelley (Gord) Haugh, Cindy (Jay) Rodgers, and Susan Hughes (Terry). Cherished Grandfather of Jeremy, Greg, Amanda, Chantelle and Great Grandfather of 8.
