After a long life well lived, Hazel passed away peacefully in Kingston, Ontario surrounded by her family on March 3, 2022. Hazel was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, wife, and friend to many. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her children Susan (Les), Sharon (Mike) and the late Bill. Her grandchildren Jason (Stephanie), Jennifer, Cara and Ally, and her great grandchildren Sienna and Charlie. Hazel is survived by her sister in-laws Sylvia and Liz and will be forever missed by all her nieces and nephews. Hazel was born in Toronto on March 9, 1923 and married the late Matthew Crooke in 1943. Hazel and Matthew spent many years camping on Manitoulin Island, vacationing in Florida and enjoyed socializing with their family and friends.

While Matthew was overseas during the war, Hazel worked at Inglis contributing to the war effort. Hazel then went on to work as a cook for the Toronto Board of Education and will always be remembered for her famous pies, tea biscuits and butter tarts. Upon retirement, Hazel moved to Midland Ontario where she spent 25 wonderful years full of dancing, shopping,

BINGO and beating everyone in euchre. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Nicholls Funeral Home, 330 Midland Ave, Midland, ON, L4R 3K7.

Visitation will be held on March 11, 2022 from 12:00 –1:00, with service to follow. Interment will follow at a later date. Family will be holding a celebration of life at the Queen’s Quay British Pub and Restaurant in Victoria Harbour following the service.
