Calvin Edward Cowdrey of Midland, ON passed peacefully Jan 15, 2022 after a few days in GBGH with pneumonia. Born April 2, 1931, he rarely left Midland saying “I have everything I need right here, why would I go anywhere?”. Lovingly remembered by his wife Bernadette (together 70 years), their daughter Elizabeth Frost (husband Kurt Frost) and son Len Cowdrey (partner Chantelle Timperley) and 3 grandsons Calvin, Kenney and Ben.
Everyone remembers Cal as a gentle man, kind and loving to his family, friends and any animal that crossed his path. He was passionate about feeding the birds and squirrels in recent years and enjoyed all of his grand dogs. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: walking in the forest, gardening, riding horses, and watching his family grow and thrive. In his younger years he loved being on the water of Georgian Bay and spent many days sailing, fishing and swimming. As a kid he used to enjoy time at the Midland Boat Works where his father was a carpenter. He loved to tell stories and fondly remembered the days when ice was delivered by horse & wagon, portaging was required before Hwy 69 was built, and the family gathered around the radio for entertainment and news. He will be missed.
