Mrs. Darlene Evelyn (Tench) Cadieux, of Victoria Harbour, passed away at GBGH on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 78 years of age after a brief illness.
Darlene was pre-deceased by Francis, her husband of 55 years. In the house and farm they built together they raised 3 children; Larry, Bernie, and Frances Ann. They had 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Darlene was born and spent her first 17 years in BC. She was the eldest child of 3 children born to Larry and Margaret Tench. She is survived by her 2 younger brothers Larry (Joanne) and Rick (Jane), both of whom remained in BC, with their respective families.
Darlene possessed an adventurous spirit in her youth and at 17 she travelled to Ontario where she met her future husband, Francis. Her last visit to B.C., accompanied by Francis and Frances Ann, was pure joy for her. Darlene’s adventurous spirit quieted but the story goes that she and the wives went on a tropical vacation one year when the husbands went hunting, and she went parasailing! Darlene and Francis spent their retirement years enjoying all the entertainment the casino offered, playing cards together or with friends, and spent every summer for many years at their trailer in Chapleau. Darlene’s greatest career accomplishment was earning her nurse’s aide certificate and she spent many years making a difference caring for the seniors at The Villa.
For several years, Darlene, and her friend Irene, had a small sewing business making mobility friendly clothing. A private family service will be held at a later date.
