July 9, 1925 ~ March 30, 2021 (age 95)
Lija passed away peacefully at Woodhaven long term care home, in her 96th year. Predeceased by her loving husband Jim. Dear mother of Brian, Maura (Larry), Paul (Heather) and Jim (Colleen). Loving grandmother to Sandra, Tracy, Krista, Samantha and Jimmy. Great-grandmother to Kieran and Kai. Predeceased by her dear sister Mara. Born and raised in Latvia, Lija ended up in Ireland after WWII where she met her husband to be, Jim. Soon after they rejoined Lija’s family in Canada and married. Her practical outlook on life (“que será, será”) helped her to navigate tough times and provided a role model for her extended family. A celebration of life is to be held at a later date.
