The 2024 Royal Canadian Trillium Midland Sea Cadets Fun Spiel will take place on Feb. 10.

The first annual event is to raise funds to provide unique opportunities for all sea cadets free of charge.

Organizers are planning for 16 teams for the Fun Spiel and offering two draws of six ends from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. and 10:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.

There will be a continental breakfast (for the early draw), lunch provided by the Huronia Navy League of soup and sandwiches, and dinner provided by the Midland Legion Ladies Auxillary of your choice of gluten-free shepherd's pie or lasagna.

There will also be a silent auction and plenty of door prizes to win, organizers said in a news release.

Curlers will have an opportunity to meet and chat with the cadets and learn about all of the unique experiences provided to them, which include scuba diving, sailing, marine communication, first aid, boating licences, VHF radio licence and more.

All you need is to take part in the fun spiel is a clean pair of indoor shoes.

Cost is $320 per team or $80 per person.

Members of the community are asked to consider either entering, joining or sponsoring a team, or helping promote the event through their club, organization, company or social media.

Curling takes place at the Penetang Curling Club, 8 Owen St., Penetanguishene.
