Topics of municipal governance are on hand for the March meetings of council in Tiny Township and the town of Penetanguishene tonight.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Tiny, regular council will feature new staff introductions, scheduled deputations regarding the private gun range on Raven Hill Dr., and an information presentation on a clean energy initiative involving Georgian Bay. The results of the annual drinking water summary on quality management will also be included.

For the committee of the whole portion, Tiny council members will hear the results of last year’s sewage system reinspection program through a presentation by Tatham Engineering. Matters for consideration include reports on: the CAO report on creation of a citizen’s council remuneration committee; the proposed agreement with the Penetanguishene Public Library for this year; various awards of tender for roads and recreation; and more.

Meetings of council and committee of the whole for Tiny Township are hosted in council chambers located at 130 Balm Beach Rd. W., and are recorded through livestream on the township’s YouTube channel. Agenda packages are located on the township website.

Penetanguishene council, meanwhile, starts at 6 p.m. with a special meeting of council, where verbal updates on union negotiations as well as the Main St. building collapse will be addressed.

The regular council meeting will follow at 7 p.m. where Penetanguishene council will make several proclamations, address delegations on the proposed cell tower from the previous meeting and look at participation in the NSERC Elmvale groundwater research study.

For their committee of the whole, scheduled delegations will be heard regarding non-resident user fees at local arenas, a climate action plan, and a housing proposal. In addition, section reports will be addressed including: traffic control and calming in the town; an all-terrain vehicle bylaw on municipal roads; and a review on non-resident user fees.

Meetings are held at 10 Robert St. W. in Penetanguishene, with a recorded broadcast archived on the town’s YouTube channel. Agenda packages can be found on the town’s website.
