Christmas has come early for 19 local organizations.

The Huronia Community Foundation (HCF) has unveiled the recipients of its first ever Heart of Georgian Bay Community Forward Fund. The 19 local charities will share more than $91,000 in funding thanks to the new entity.

This new funding is supported through the M. Wayne and J. Coleman Family Fund at HCF, which is part of this family's commitment to the future of Huronia.

"The Wayne/Coleman Family strongly believes in the importance of supporting our local communities and paying it forward,” HCF executive director Scott Warnock said in a release.

“We hope that others will join us in growing this fund annually. The Heart of Georgian Bay Community Forward Fund is an incredible investment in the future of North Simcoe and Southern Georgian Bay."

The fund was established to provide grants to support and advance needs in a broad range of areas in the local community from creativity in arts and culture, education, literacy and training opportunities, environmental leadership, food security, healthy living activities and mental health promotion.
