St. Theresa's Catholic High School in Midland hosted an incredibly successful Relay for Life event on Monday, June 12, 2023. With a turnout 100 strong, students raised an astounding $33,597! This event sparked incredible school spirit, and the fundraising goal of $15,000 was doubled and surpassed.

Relay for Life events happen every year all across Canada. It is a way to raise awareness and funds for the Canadian Cancer Society and its many initiatives. The students at St. Theresa’s demonstrated unwavering dedication to the cause, plus remarkable effort, unity, and resolve.

“The perseverance and hope of these students is inspiring. We are proud of their fundraising achievements, but even more proud of their commitment to care for our bigger community,” said Principal George Luck.

Teacher Trina Janveau helped students organize their Relay for Life event this year. “This remarkable achievement is a testament to the students' dedication. Every day they display their desire to have a positive impact in the world.”

Students Ella Howard and Audrey Gignac co-chaired the event. “This year's Relay for Life event was a huge success. We joined with community members, previous and current staff, and students affected by cancer directly,” said Ella. “It was beautiful to see our famous St. Theresa's spirit back in action at our first Relay event after the pandemic!”

“The Relay for Life event brings people together to achieve a common goal, to ‘be bigger than cancer.’ At St. Theresa’s High School, we brought together a community of students, staff, volunteers, and survivors to fundraise, foster awareness, and support this worthy cause. We outdid ourselves, raising over double our initial fundraising goal. I’m so proud of our school and our generous community supporters,” said Audrey, student co-chair.
