The following letter is in response to the numerous articles published on MidlandToday about stunt driving and speeding.

With regard to all the stories you run on the many young drivers being nabbed for excessive speeds and stunt driving.

Is it not time to run to start a movement to increase the very minor current charges for stunt driving?

The current suspensions are clearly not acting as serious enough punishment. The current weak penalties need to be increased to address the rapid increases in the number of stunt driving offences.

They should probably be doubled, to convey the message of the severity of this growing irresponsible behaviour among young people. Think of how many drivers are never caught. And it seems that a lot of them are also intoxicated as well.

It's a popular conversation topic among many people. Clearly the current penalties aren't sending a strong enough message to deter these idiots, to stop endangering the lives of innocent law-abiding motorists.
