The following letter is in response to story that appeared May 7 entitled Area snowbirds walk across border through 'loophole' after months in Mexico.

Dear Editor,

How irresponsible of you to print this article about the Orillia snowbirds and quote them as saying COVID-19 is “no big deal” in the U.S. and Mexico.

I think the thousands of people who have lost loved ones, experienced a lengthy stay in an ICU bed or frazzled health care workers would disagree.

We should be frightened of this terrible pandemic. It has wreaked havoc around the world.

Shame on them for being so callous and cavalier. And shame on you for giving them a platform.
