MidlandToday welcomes letters to the editor at [email protected]. Please include your daytime phone number and address (for verification of authorship, not publication). This letter is in response to higher user fees at the North Simcoe Sports and Recreation Centre, which was addressed in a recent column and subsequent letter from former Midland CAO Fred Flood.

Dear Editor,

As a member of the fundraising campaign for the North Simcoe Sports and Recreation Centre I want to thank Fred Flood for his letter to the editor.

My first thought was 'how soon they forget' that it was a small army of volunteers from all North Simcoe communities that worked for almost two years to raise that $1.5 million.

We made presentations to, requested, and received funds from service clubs, user groups, individuals, small businesses, large businesses and the municipalities themselves with Tay Township leading the way.

This was all done in the spirit of having a state-of-the-art recreation centre in North Simcoe, located in the town of Midland, to be available to all residents of North Simcoe.

This should not be forgotten.
