MidlandToday welcomes letters to the editor at [email protected] or via the website. Please include your full name, daytime phone number and address (for verification of authorship, not publication). The following letter is in response to an article about Canada Emergency Business Account loan forgiveness, published Jan. 18.

Bill Meridis, you are to be commended for your trying to get small business owners a further extension for repaying their Canada Emergency Business Account loans.

This has been a definite struggle for small businesses to stay afloat during this once-in-a-lifetime pandemic.

In view of the fact that our government has given millions and millions of dollars to others (foreign countries) recently, and for good cause, I feel that Canadians deserve something as well. After all, the government would not have the monies they have if it were not for Canadians paying their dues in the form of taxes, etc.

Good work, Bill Meridis.
