Last but not least is a true statement for Eric Lapointe, who was certified by the clerk’s office of Barrie as the elected trustee in the final electoral race of the 2022 municipal elections.

Lapointe was elected as the member for Conseil scolaire Viamonde (formerly Conseil scolaire de district du Centre Sud-Ouest) Sector 5, with 709 votes to win over fellow candidate Saveria Caruso who received 298 votes.

He will represent Bruce, Grey, Simcoe and Dufferin Counties throughout his term in the position.

In a MidlandToday questionnaire leading up to the election, Lapointe said, "I don't know what students need more than anything, but they all deserve the best environment and education we can provide. Their voices matter."

The late announcement came days after other municipal and school board trustee races in North Simcoe municipalities were made official, due to the requirement of the city clerk of Barrie to receive and certify all electoral races through the region.
