Two-vehicle crash on Highway 400 sends five people to hospital

A North York driver has been charged with careless driving as a result of the crash that sent one person to a Toronto trauma centre

One driver was taken to a trauma hospital after a two-vehicle crash on Highway 400 north of the ramp to Crooked Bay Road.

A crash involving two vehicles in the southbound lane of Highway 400 just north of the Crooked Bay Road ramp in Georgian Bay Township sent one driver to a Toronto area trauma hospital on Sunday evening.

Officers with the Southern Georgian Bay Ontario Provincial Police and the District of Muskoka Paramedic Services and Georgian Bay Township Fire Services were called to the scene at 9:10 p.m. where five people were transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

One of the vehicle drivers was extricated by fire services before being taken to an area hospital and was further transported to a Toronto area trauma hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

As a result of the crash investigation, a 33-year-old male of North York has been charged with careless driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
