Two Tay residents nabbed for impaired driving at RIDE checks

Two Tay Township residents were charged at RIDE checks in the past few days.

On May 19, shortly after 6 p.m., police were conducting RIDE checks on Honey Harbour Road in Georgian Bay Township.

Jack Swick, 27, was charged with operation while impaired (alcohol) and operation while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus). He is set to appear in court June 6. His driver’s licence will be suspended for 90 days and the vehicle will be impounded for seven days.

On May 21, at about 1:10 a.m., a driver approached a RIDE check on Heritage Drive in Midland and “had difficulty stopping for the officers when directed to do so,” Southern Georgian Bay OPP said in a news release.

Stephanie Kiernan, 34, was charged with operation while impaired (alcohol and drugs) and operation while impaired (blood-drug concentration). She has a July 18 court date. Her driver’s licence will be suspended for 90 days and the vehicle will be impounded for seven days.
