Two face impaired driving charges in weekend incidents

Southern Georgina Bay OPP responded to a collision scene shortly after 12:30 a.m. Sunday morning after receiving a report that a pickup truck had driven into a wooded area at the "S" curves of Tay Point Road.

As a result of this investigation, 49-year-old Sean R. Rourke of Midland stands charged with:
    •    Operation while impaired - alcohol
    •    Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
    •    Carless driving

Rourke is scheduled to appear in court on may 16, and was served a 90-day driver's licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Later that same morning, a traffic stop on Park Street, Victoria Harbour at approximately 2:41 a.m. resulted in one driver being charged.

Joshua Gearin, 30 years old of Tay Township, is scheduled to appear in court on May 30 and is charged with operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

Gearin's driver's licence was suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

Detachment patrol officers set up 13 Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) programs checking 250 drivers for signs of impairment over the April 25-29 time frame in an effort to increase road safety here in North Simcoe.
