Tiny Township woman charged with drug-impaired driving

The 25-year-old was also charged with opioid possession and faces 90-day driver's licence suspension and a 45-day vehicle impound

Regardless of whether you are impaired by drug or alcohol, driving a car or operating a vessel, the officers' work, with the public's assistance, clearly demonstrates that impaired driving is impaired driving!

Michelle Vanier, 25, from Tiny Township, faces criminal code driving charges after Southern Georgian Bay Detachment OPP officers responded to a report at approximately 11:21 p.m. on May 29 from a motorist of a possible impaired driver at Hugel Avenue. 

Officers located and safely stopped the suspect vehicle near Fuller Avenue and Robert Street East in Penetanguishene and entered into an impaired driving investigation with the lone occupant.

As a result, the accused has been charged with the following offences

  • Operation while drug-impaired 
  • Operation while prohibited under the criminal code

And further with

  • Possession of opioids

The accused was released on an undertaking to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 23 and also faces a 90-day driver's licence suspension and a 45-day vehicle impound as per the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.
