Stolen vehicle investigation leads to charges against two people

An automated licence plate recognition device led police to a stolen vehicle Thursday in Midland, according to a Southern Georgian Bay OPP news release.

The vehicle was located at a Robert Street residence, where the driver was arrested.

Tanner McCue, 26, of Penetanguishene, has been charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and one count of possession of a Schedule 1 substance (cocaine). The accused was held for a bail hearing and will appear in court at a later date.

Tyler Sylvester, 30, of Christian Island, was also arrested during the investigation. He was arrested in relation to an investigation into the theft of a bicycle that occurred Aug. 24 in Penetanguishene. Police said he was also in possession of credit cards that had been reported stolen. He has been charged with two counts of possession of a credit card and one count of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. The accused was released from custody and will appear in court Oct. 12.
