Scarborough man charged in Tay sexual assault investigation

A Scarborough man faces a slew of charges including kidnapping, child luring via telecommunications and sexual assault with a weapon on a person under 16 relating to an incident in Tay Township earlier this year.

Police officers began their investigation after a sexual assault was reported to the OPP communications centre on September 18.

From there, Southern Georgian OPP crime unit officers conducted an in-depth investigation, according to police, which resulted in the arrest of 24-year-old Jamie Wade Miller in Vaughan on Wednesday.

Besides the aforementioned charges, Miller also faces charges of forcible confinement, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and sexual interference.

Miller remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on a future date.
