Police investigation ongoing in Freddy Channel UPDATE: Situation 'resolved'

Police have said the “situation has been resolved and male was located.” The OPP Marine Unit, with assistance from the Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Unit and Aviation Unit “were able to safely resolve the situation” at about 6:10 p.m.

Boaters are being asked to avoid the Freddy Channel in Southern Georgian Bay, near Honey Harbour, due to a police investigation.

OPP posted to Twitter this afternoon, “... there is an ongoing police investigation involving a lone male in a small vessel. Investigators advise to please avoid the area and not to approach the male for public safety.”

In a news release, Southern Georgian Bay OPP stated police were contacted at 2:48 p.m. about “a distraught lone male in a small vessel drifting in the Freddy Channel.”

They are asking anyone with information about the incident to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or 911.
