Penetanguishene residents facing fines for illegal dumping

The separate incidents happened on May 4 and July 21. The two face the charge after allegedly dumping household waste

The Municipal Law Enforcement Officer, with assistance from local residents who reported illegal dumping, has laid charges on a local resident for two (2) occurrences regarding the dumping of household waste materials on Alvin Williams Road in Penetanguishene which occurred on May 4, 2020 and July 21, 2020.

As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old female, of Penetanguishene, is charged with two counts of the following offence:

  • Permit littering to be deposited on a highway, as per the littering by-law 2012-13 as amended, Section 3.2 set fine of $500 per offence.

On July 31 a similar report was made to the Municipal Law Enforcement Officer. With assistance from local resident who reported illegal dumping, the Municipal Law Enforement Officer laid charges on a local resident regarding the dumping of household waste materials in Rotary Champlain Wendat Park in Penetanguishene. 

As a result of the investigation, a 63-year-old male, of Penetanguishene, is charged with the following offence:

  • Permit littering to be deposited on lands without consent, as per the littering by-law 2012-13 as amended, section 3.1 set fine of $500 per offence.

The Town thanks residents for their reporting illegal dumping and continue to request your assistance in keeping our community clean. Staff will continue to monitor the Town we ask that should you observe items being littered to please take note of such things as the vehicle/vehicle plate and information on the persons in the act.
