Penetanguishene driver facing impaired charges after RIDE check

A Penetanguishene driver found out that the Ontario Provincial Police does operate the RIDE program at any hour, all year round.

Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment were conducting a RIDE program on Marshall Road, Tiny Township, when a they checked a pickup truck pulling a trailer at approximately 12:55 a.m. on Nov. 14, 2022. Upon speaking to the driver, an impaired driving investigation was commenced As a result, Adam Dubeau, 38, of Penetanguishene was criminally charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released from police custody on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Dec. 29, 2022. The dirver also faces 90-day drivers licence suspensions as per the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines and a seven-day vehicle impound.

OPP officers conducted 16 RIDE program check stops within the detachment area over the Nov. 10-14, 2022 time frame, checking 234 drivers for signs of impairment.
