Three people were arrested on drug trafficking offences after a traffic stop in Kapuskasing.

On January 2, 2024, shortly after 1:00 p.m., officers from the James Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Queen Street in Kapuskasing.

During the investigation, police seized drugs suspected to be fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, crack cocaine, percocets, a quantity of Canadian Currency, three cell phones, and four knives. The total value of the seizure was estimated to be $80,000.

As a result of this investigation, Mikel Hill 22-years-of-age of Penetanguishene was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine 
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid - two counts
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine - two counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Failure to comply with undertaking
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Also, Reece Reynolds 24-years-of-age of Barrie was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine 
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid - two counts
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine - two counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Also, Quintin Routledge 22-years-of-age of Belle Ewart was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine 
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid - two counts
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine - two counts
  • Breach of a recognizance
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

The accused persons remain in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Kapuskasing on January 3, 2024.
