'Passed-out' driver facing slew of charges after Midland arrest

Police seized drugs after arresting pair early Monday morning.

After receiving a suspicious vehicle complaint early Monday morning, local OPP officers were dispatched to the rear of a William Street strip mall and located the vehicle.

As they approached the running vehicle shortly after 1:30 a.m., officers found the driver passed out along with another individual sitting in the passenger’s seat.

Police said they observed numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle and upon speaking with the driver, entered into a impaired by drug investigation.

Further investigation at the scene resulted in the seizure of a quantity of cocaine and Canadian currency from the vehicle leading to the arrest of the passenger.

Lance Earl Andrews, 54, of Midland faces charges of impaired driving by drugs, unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of a schedule 1 substance (cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a schedule 1 substance (cocaine) in connection with the incident.

Andrews was held for a bail hearing and will be appearing before the Ontario Court at a later date.

Catherine Lee Watters, 26, of Tay Township, is charged with drug trafficking and drug possession (cocaine) in relation to the incident.

Watters was released from custody and will to appear in court March 14.
