NEWS RELEASE

Marine officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP detachment and our community safety partner, the Safe and Sober Awareness Committee of North Simcoe, want to stress that safe vessel operating practices make for memorable times on the bay for the right reasons.

Wearing your life-jackets, having the proper safety equipment on board, leaving the alcohol behind and never operating impaired quickly sum up the annual safety messages for boaters as they enjoy everything outdoors that the Georgian Bay area provides.

Mixing alcohol and/or other impairing substances with outdoor activities on our trails, waterways and roadways just never ends well.

Officers will be on patrol, so be smart this weekend and make the right decision before you leave the dock and have a great and safe weekend here in the heart of Georgian Bay.

Educating the public about safe boating practices with our community safety partners is a priority. If you see a possible impaired operator please make the call and dial 911 and help prevent a marine incident.
