OPP marine patrol continues as weather cools

Police say 47 vessels were checked for equipment and operators for signs of impairment during 34 hours of patrol on Georgian Bay

With fall conditions moving in, the Marine Unity of the Southern Georgian Bay Ontario Provincial Police detachment is continuing to patrol north Simcoe waterways.

In total, 47 vessels were checked for equipment and operators for signs of impairment during 34 hours of patrol on Georgian Bay and a total of six operators were educated for various infractions with two operators being charged for infractions contrary to the Liquor Licence Act. Another for a violation of the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.

A total of five operators were tested on the roadside screening device for alcohol levels and all passed.

Patrol officers responded to 11 calls for service while on waterways patrol during the Sept. 13-17 time period.
