Orillia OPP has arrested two Barrie residents wanted in connection to a provincewide Facebook Marketplace fraud investigation.

In October, police were contacted by someone who claimed to have sent a deposit to purchase an item on Facebook Marketplace but never heard back from the seller.

Police then learned there were more victims.

In December, Orillia OPP released the names of two suspects.

In a news release issued Friday, police said the suspects had been arrested Dec. 30.

Crystal Davies, 28, and Justin Hawkins, 30, have both been charged with fraud under $5,000. They were held for a bail hearing and later released.

Anyone with information about the investigation, or who might be a victim, is asked to call Orillia OPP at 705-326-3536 or 1-888-310-1122. Information can be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or crimestopperssdm.com.
