One person killed in fire at campground in Alliston: OPP

Police were called to the scene of a trailer on fire at approximately 4:30 a.m.

The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fire at a local campground on Highway 89 in Alliston, New Tecumseth.

On Dec. 8, 2022, at approximately 4:30 a.m. police received a call from the New Tecumseth Fire Department regarding a trailer on fire at Rolling Acres Campground.

On police arrival, the trailer was fully engulfed in flames. New Tecumseth Fire extinguished the fire limiting the damage to surrounding properties.

During the investigation, it has been confirmed that one person is deceased. The name of the deceased is being withheld at this time, pending notifications.

The Ontario Fire Marshall's office has been notified and is on scene. The scene continues to be held by police as the investigation continues.

Police are looking to speak with any witnesses that may have been in the area at the time of the incident.
