A motorcycle crash Tuesday in Tiny Township has led to charges against the driver.

At 1 p.m., Southern Georgian Bay OPP responded to the report of a single-vehicle collision on Champlain Road, near Couchiching Crescent. The driver had left the scene.

Police say the driver lost control of the motorcycle and left the roadway.

“After the collision, the driver pushed the bike away from the scene, eventually leaving it on the ground and abandoning the vehicle,” police said in a news release.

The driver was located not far from the scene of the crash, and police said there were signs he had been drinking alcohol. After a roadside screening test, police arrested Brendan Dashnay, 26, of Tiny, and laid several Highway Traffic Act charges against him. He has also been charged with operation while impaired (alcohol and/or drugs) and operation while impaired (over 80).

The accused was released from custody and has a July 6 court date in Midland. His driver’s licence will be suspended for 90 days and the motorcycle will be impounded for seven days.
