Midland pair accused of stealing donated Christmas toys

Members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched at 2:13 p.m. Dec. 9, 2020 to a report of a theft by two persons from a local toy drive at the North Simcoe Sports and Recreation Centre in Midland. Attending officers through investigation learned the identity of the two persons that had unlawfully removed a quantity of donated toys from the toy drive.

Uniform officers on Dec. 12, 2020 attended a Midland Avenue residence locating and arresting Krista Bressette, 29 years, of Midland and on Dec. 13, 2020 officers attended another Midland Avenue residence locating and arresting Aaron Hollmer, 28 years, of Midland for the following offences in relation to this theft investigation: 

  • Theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Further investigation by officers revealed that both accused persons were bound by a probation order at the time of the theft incident and were further charged with: 

  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The two accused were released on a recognizance to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on Jan. 16, 2021 and Jan. 21, 2021 respectively.
