Midland man faces trespass, indecent act charges

On Nov. 29, 2020, members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted by a Sixth Street Midland resident to investigate an incident that happened on the property during the overnight hours of Nov. 28, 2020. Officers through investigation were able to identify a suspect and made an arrest in the evening of Dec. 1, 2020.

Charged is Joseph Buttineau, 34 years of Midland, with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada:
    •    Mischief - destroys or damages property (two counts)
    •    Indecent act
    •    Trespassing at night

During the investigation it was determined that the suspect had also violated terms of probation and was further charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada:
    •    Fail to comply with probation order (two counts)

The accused remains in custody to appear before a video bail hearing and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.
