Midland man accused of multiple shoplifting incidents at LCBO

A Midland resident is facing multiple charges following a shoplifting incident at the Midland LCBO.

On July 11, officers with the Southern Georgian Bay Ontario Provincial Police responded to a call from store security regarding a man allegedly attempting to steal liquor from the store.

An investigation by police revealed that the man had been accused in similar incidents at the same location previously.

On July 15, police checked the rider of an e-bike on Highway 12 near the intersection of Old Fort Road in Tay Township. Police confirmed that the person was the suspect in the shoplifting investigation.

Police say the man was arrested, though uncooperative, and was eventually taken into custody.

Nathan Fontaine, 31, of Midland, has been charged with:

  • theft under $5,000 - shoplifting
  • failure to comply with undertaking
  • failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court
  • resist peace officer
