A call to police on Saturday by a member of the public has led to charges for a Tiny Township woman.

Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment responded to the call of a suspected impaired driver at around 5:10 p.m. on Oct. 29.

They stopped a vehicle on Lafontaine Road in Penetanguishene, police said in a news release.

After speaking with the driver, the officers entered into an impaired driving investigation.

The driver was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol, and operation while impaired by alcohol concentration 80 mg plus.

Police say the driver was further summoned to provincial court for a number of provincial offences related charges.

The accused was released from custody on a recognizance to appear in court Nov. 10.

Cheryl Lesperance, 41, also faces a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impound.

Police encouraged community members to continue to call 911 and report their observations of possible impaired drivers on area roadways.
