Man crashes Cadillac on Midland Town Pier

MIDLAND,ON - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded at 6:41 p.m. Aug. 30, 2020, to a report of a car crash on the Midland Town pier off the north end of King Street, Midland.

Attending officers located a red Cadillac El Dorado which had crashed into the pavilion on the pier and three male occupants were located at the scene and treated by County of Simcoe Paramedic Services for minor injuries. The driver was identified and was arrested at the scene and transported to detachment for a drinking and driving investigation.

As a result of this investigation, William Summers, 50 years, of Midland has been charged with the following driving offences:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was served a 90-day driver's license suspension and seven-day vehicle impound as per the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) program and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on Nov. 5, 2020.

Police remind motorists that an essential part of the enforcement job is to save lives and reduce injuries on our trails, roadways, and waterways.
