Man charged in Tiny Township tractor theft

Members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have recovered a stolen tractor and made an arrest within hours of the reported theft.

On March 30, 2023, just before 10 a.m., officers responded to a reported theft of a tractor at a residence on Champlain Road in the Township of Tiny. The complainant advised that around 7 a.m., an unknown male entered the property and drove off with the stolen tractor in an unknown direction.

Around noon, the stolen tractor was reported parked by a nearby gas station. Officers attended and a short time later observed the tractor drive off and enter the roadway. A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver was arrested. A search resulted in the seizure of ammunition. The initial investigation also revealed the individual had warrants out for their arrest.

As a result of the investigation, Steven Wright, 45 years of age, of Tiny Township has been charged with possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and operation while prohibited.
