Man accused of stealing food, bicycle in Midland

A man is facing theft charges following two recent incidents in Midland.

Store security at Maurice’s Your Independent Grocer contacted police at about 10 a.m. July 22 after apprehending a man who didn’t pay for food, Southern Georgian Bay OPP said in a news release. He was charged with theft under $5,000 (shoplifting) and later released from custody with an Aug. 31 court date.

The accused was arrested again after police say he stole a young person’s bicycle in the Midland Bay Landing area July 23. He was located near Bourgeois Lane and arrested July 25. He was charged with theft under $5,000 and failure to comply with a probation order.

Charged is Johnathon James Fournier, 36, of no fixed address, Midland. He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
