Man accused of shoplifting at Midland grocery store

A Tiny Township man is being accused of shoplifting at a Midland business.

Store security told Ontario Provincial Police that a shopper left the Midland Food Basics without paying for merchandise Sunday night.

Officers spotted a suspect walking along Yonge Street and say they seized stolen property after arresting him.

Steven Gallant, 43, has been charged with theft under $5,000 – shoplifting and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

He’s been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 2.
